“No matter how long a dog lives,
it’s never enough.”

It goes without saying that we all want to maximize the time we have with our furbabies. And while it’s true that no amount of years will ever be enough, there are simple practices you can implement starting today that can help extend and maximize your dog’s life. (the following is just a sampling of the information provided in from our free, “How to Make Your Dog Live Longer & Happier” email series)

  1. Brushing your dog’s teeth – Consistent, daily dental care is extremely important for a healthy dog. Dental pain is excruciating because dog’s teeth are rooted in their rigid skull with no place for swelling to go.  If your dog has bad breath, it isn’t normal. Poor dental care leads to serious pain and can even lead to other issues such as infection or cancer. You can get an oral care kit for your dog with everything you need from Amazon.com here.

  1. Full body massages – This is one your dog will love, but it also has a very important purpose. The massage is to check your dog for lumps or abnormalities all over their body. Tumors that are cancerous and caught early give your dog the greatest chance of survival and recovery. We recommend weekly massages (or more often if you want to spoil your dog even more! 🙂 )

  1. Set feeding times vs. leaving the food bowl full of food – Bored dogs snack if food is always available contributing to obesity. According to recent studies by the ASPCA dogs that were overweight live 2 years less than their fit counterparts. Obese dogs have heightened risk of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, joint problems, bladder problems and more.
