3 Great Ways To Strengthen Your Bond With Your French Bulldog

| Published on May 9, 2017

French bulldogs love people – almost everyone. This makes them a pretty easy dog to have around. However, just because your Frenchie loves be scratched and doted on, does not mean you have a strong bond. Frenchies are also known for being difficult to train and having an independent streak. A strong bond with your Frenchie means she will listen to you and work with you. If you are having trouble, here are three great ways to strengthen your bond with your French Bulldog.

#1 – Learn Your French Bulldog’s Language

What better way to improve your relationship and deepen your bond than to understand your Frenchie better? In order to do that, you need to learn how they communicate through body language. Dr. Sophia Yin’s website has a host of free body language posters that can help you learn to speak “dog,” which your Frenchie will greatly appreciate.

#2 – Training

So training is a challenge with Frenchies, but giving up would be a mistake. When you and your dog train together, you are learning to communicate with each other and that goes a long way to create a lasting bond. As long as you keep training fun and engaging, your Frenchie will start to listen more. If you have a strong-willed Frenchie, outsmart them by using the things they love most as rewards for training – that includes those all-important rump scratches.

#3 – Play

Play is an easy and fun way to bond with your Frenchie. Any game she enjoys is fine, just as long as you’re doing it together! Agility trainers encourage play with their students because they have found it creates dogs that listen better and work harder for their owners.
