3 Things Your Lab Loves More Than Anything

| Published on October 11, 2016

A happy-go-lucky breed, it probably seems like your Labrador Retriever loves everyone and everything. They add so much joy to our lives, it only makes sense that we would want to show them some love by letting them do something they really enjoy. If you are not sure what your Lab likes most, try one of the following 3 things most Labs love more than anything.

#1 – Eating

While almost all dogs like food (it’s why positive reinforcement training works well), Labradors are definitely foodies. They seem to have a bottomless stomach and appetite. So an extra treat once in a while is great way to show your Lab some love. Just make sure he doesn’t start to get chubby from your affections.

#2 – Swimming

Labrador Retrievers were bred for retrieving fowl. Many times, the bird falls in the water and the Lab has to go in and get it. For this reason, Labs were bred to have a thick, double coat to protect against the cold water and they are one of only a few breeds with webbed toes for swimming. They also have a natural inclination to like the water. So, taking your Lab for a swim is not only a great way to keep him fit, but it’s also something he probably loves.

#3 – Social Outings

Most Labradors love being around people and even other dogs – meeting new friends is great! So, taking your dog with you when go to the pet store, park, or even over a friend’s house can make your Lab very happy. They would much rather come with you than stay at home.
