After 721 Days in A Shelter, Tara Finds A Home. But Nina Still Waits…

Tara, an adorable four-year old boxer mix sat and waited for a family. And waited. And waited. The shelter staff at the Humane Society of Forsyth County couldn’t understand why no one wanted her. She was friendly,  well trained, loved people and dogs…and her adoption fee was already paid for.

Yup. A free, well-trained dog sat in a shelter for over two years. Oh, and did we mention she came with a year supply of free food as well???

She became a staff favorite and lucky for her, she was at a shelter with room for her to sit and wait. Not every dog is so lucky to have the chance to wait so long for a home.

But wait she did.

Until this picture was posted on the shelter’s Facebook Page.

It was shared almost 10,000 times across social media and she caught the attention of Shana and David Brittain – who were captivated by her big brown eyes.

They fell in love before they even got to the shelter.

And just two days later, Tara had a HOME!

Now that Tara has a home, we ask that those looking for a dog go to their local rescues and shelters and ask them, which dogs have been there the longest. Often, these overlooked dogs are the best ones and you may be saving the life of a dog whose time is running out.

For example, Nina is still looking for her forever home.
