The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is an organization that believes that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment from us, humans. They are on a mission to prevent animal cruelty all over the United States.
Just recently, they were able to rescue 23 dogs from a dogfighting operation in North Carolina. Together with animal control police, they raided the place and were able to seize 23 Pit Bulls, and they also found dogfighting paraphernalia in the area.
When they got to the area, what they saw there was just heartbreaking. The dogs were living in dreadful conditions–the place was filthy and most of the dogs were tethered with heavy chains.
7 of the 23 Pit Bulls who were seized were just puppies. The dogs were thin, and they have injuries and scars associated with dogfighting.
The dogs found were hungry and scared. But it seems like they knew that the people who came are there to help them.

All the dogs rescued are now under the care of ASPCA. We hope that these dogs will find a home and a family who will give them the care and the love they deserve.
