Boulder Mailman Builds Ramp For Elderly Dog On His Route

Jeff Kramer is a self-admitted dog lover, so running into dogs on his mail route isn’t something he’s afraid of. In fact, the USPS mail carrier has about 30 or 40 canine companions that enthusiastically come to greet him every day he delivers mail to their humans.

One of these dogs is an old Labrador Retriever named Tashi.

Dogs and mailmen are mortal enemies, but one mailman is bridging the divide: “In my opinion, if you’re not a dog person…

When Kramer and Tashi first met a few years ago, the old pup would bound down the porch steps to greet his mailman friend. As he got older, though, Tashi started having trouble going up and down the steps and eventually had to be carried.

Today’s Moment of sunshine came out of Boulder, Colorado where mailman Jeff Kramer build a ramp for Karen Dimetrosky’s 14 year old dog Tashi who was having a hard time getting up and down the stairs.

Tashi reminded Kramer of his late dog, Odie, who also needed help getting around. He had built a ramp for Odie that made it easier for him to get in and out of the house. Odie sadly passed a few years back, so Kramer decided to give the wood to Tashi’s family, the Dimetrosky’s.

Unfortunately, the Dimestrosky’s aren’t very handy when it comes to building wood ramps for dogs, so the wood just sat untouched. That’s when Kramer took things into his own hands – literally.

He came over to the Dimetrosky’s house on his day off to build the ramp for Tashi.

They hadn’t asked Kramer for the wood or to build the ramp, but the mailman couldn’t bear to see his friend struggling up and down the steps. He wanted an easy way for Tashi to get around, and the Dimetrosky’s are forever grateful.

“It’s incredible,” Karen Dimetrosky explained to the Daily Camera. “I can’t imagine not having the ramp now. It’s the only way he gets in and out.”
