Passengers Defend Blind Man & His Dog When The Bus Driver Refused To Let Them Ride The Bus

| Published on November 30, 2015

Seeing Eye Dogs are specially trained to guide and lead blind or visually impaired people. Since these dogs are needed by visually impaired people, they are protected by law to be allowed to access public places like businesses and establishments, even if there is a “No Pets” policy enforced by the said place.

So when a blind man and his guide dog was refused by a bus driver to take the bus, the other passengers defended the blind man, teaching the driver a lesson.

He further demanded that the dog should either be inside a crate, be placed in the luggage compartment, or just be left at the bus stop.

Thankfully, the other passengers knew the law regarding seeing eye dogs, and defended the blind man and his dog. But despite their arguments, the bus driver wouldn’t move the bus. Security transit officers had to be called to the scene to address the issue.

Thanks to the passengers’ support, the bus driver realized that he made a mistake, and let the blind man and his dog ride the bus as he continued his route.

The public transportation company, Sitp, has issued a press release saying that they will train their employees better.
