Rescue Dog Discovered Key Evidence That Took Down Subway’s Jared Fogle

The world was shocked and stunned to hear the horrific news about Subway’s Jared Fogle, but if it wasn’t for one special black Labrador, this case may not have had the strong evidence it needed to take him down. A two-year-old rescue dog named Bear is one of only five dogs in the United States trained to sniff out electronic devices–such as SD cards, thumb drives, etc. During the July home search at Fogle’s home in Indiana, Bear was able to sniff out key evidence used in the arrest of Fogle, something that the humans had failed to find.

Steven DeBrota, a prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney’s office in Indianapolis, was first skeptical when he learned of Bear’s abilities. “I thought I was being punked, but it does work,” said DeBrota, who was the lead prosecutor on the Fogle case and calls Bear “a key part of the team.”

Bear’s trainer, Todd Jordan said: “Bear is unique because he can sniff out SD cards, thumb drives, external hard drives, iPads and micro SD cards. It’s something we probably can’t smell.”

Not only is Bear making a difference in the world with his amazing abilities, but he’s also quite the handsome boy! Take a look at him posing in his work suit, what a good looking dog!
