My Japanese Spitz dog barks a lot, can that be controlled? How?

Of course, but be ready for a long haul! The ironic advice I always hear is to teach them to bark…on command. Then you can teach them to be silent on command. I admit I never followed through with that. When my chihuahua’s barking gets overly annoying, I work on having her look at me and do the basic tricks she knows (sit, stay, paw), offering treats for each success. The treats distract her until the cause of her barking is past.
Excessive barking can also be a cause of a bored dog. Maybe more exercise would help tire her out a little? Good luck!

Hi there. My dog used to bark alot when I went out. I got an anti bark collar of ebay. Its the kind that emits a sound that they don’t like. Within about half hour of it being on it was working. It does not hurt them in any way, my dog did not show any signs of distress when he set it off. He just stopped, no way would I want anything to hurt my fur baby. If you would like any more details please let me know. x
