I keep getting told I am a lucky dog.  I was found on the interstate after either being hit by a car or falling out of one.  The kind lady that found me told me she would not leave me there and waited for 2 hours for someone to stop and help her put me in her car. She took me to an emergency vet with the plan to turn me in as a Good Samaritan drop off.  I did not have a collar or microchip and the kind lady was worried about what would happen to me.  After discussing things with her son, they decided to take ownership of me and pay for all of my treatment and then once I was healed I would go live with him since she already had 4 dogs, 2 cats, and 3 birds.  I had a dislocated hip on one back leg and a broken femur and twisted ankle on the other.   At my two week checkup, the doctor decided I was in good enough shape that they could neuter me.  After the surgery, the doctor told my new mom that he was concerned about how my testicle looked and he wanted to send it off to pathology.  Turns out I had seminoma (my body was producing benign cancer cells).  Luckily once they neutered me, I shouldn’t have any further issues.  While I was at the vet they noticed I was walking funny so they took x-rays and found that I had broken three screws in my femur repair.  Back into surgery I went.  And if that wasn’t bad enough, I was heartworm positive. Once the doctor was comfortable with the healing from my injuries, we started heartworm treatment.  That was no fun.  I had three different injections that really hurt and had to stay in a cage for even longer.  Fast forward to today… I had my final check-up and I am fully healed from all my surgeries and heartworm free.  My mom tells me I am worth every penny she spent on me and that she wouldn’t trade me for anything.  And I love her so much I won’t let her out of my sight when she is home with me.  Don’t tell her son, but I am staying right where I am!
