This might be a strange question but does anyone know if there is an organization or whatever that helps with vet bills for a rescue animal. My family is military and living here on the island of Guam and there is a massive stray animal problem. We have been here for three years and are on our seventh rescue animal. One of them we adopted from the local resuce, one we found on the side of the road and kept, and our cat was rescued with his two sisters. Currently I have a dog in my care who walked up into my yard a few days ago and he was skin and bones with a old fractured leg that didnt heal well. I took him to the vet and he has a pretty clean bill of health but will need an expensive surgery to fix his leg but, I just cannot pay for it out of pocket (again) for an animal that I cannot keep. I am working with a very small rescue here but they have a bunch of dogs to care for as well and it would be nice to be hooked up with an organization that could help with some of this. Please let me know if anyone has any information.

      Thank you

check out some of the larger organizations, like the ASPCA or Humane Society. I used to live in a very rural area in Tennessee, USA with a HUGE over population problem, no shelter, the concept of spaying and/or neutering was something ‘city folks’ did and animals were/are considered disposable. Anyway, some concerned residents got together, started a shelter, and started getting grants. The one that stands out to me was from the ASPCA for free spay/neuter vouchers. I know, not quite the same, but if they have those kinds of grants, perhaps they have one that could help you. Guam is a US territory and I’m guessing when you say military, you mean US military, so, you never know….There are also some more international ones. In Defense of Animals has a sanctuary in the US but recently rescued some dogs from the dog meat trade in South Korea and those dogs are now at that sanctuary here in the US.

I hope that helps! and good luck! my heart goes out to you! I did what you do when i lived in TN, but I’m down to only three dogs, all from TN. They are city pups now….
