IN THE WORDS OF A DOG:

“Hey y’all, my name is Gemma, a 2 year old Pit Bull, and here is my story. In November of 2016, I was found roaming the streets of the Redlands, an area in the Miami area where people dump us when they don’t want us anymore. I don’t know what I did wrong because I’m very sweet. It must have been because I was pregnant. I was left to fend for myself and shortly afterwards, my puppies. I had to protect my puppies from other dumped dogs and the wild animals of South Florida and also find food and shelter. But bless the nice people from The Redland Rock Pit Abandoned Dog Project for saving me and my puppies. They were able to find me and my puppies love and care at a shelter in Boca Raton. During my time outside in the Redlands, I ended up being really emaciated and had tapeworms and heartworms. I am now clear of tapeworms and just finished up my heartworm shots, and wow, they were painful!! All of my puppies found amazing homes and I couldn’t have found a better forever family!! I get to sleep on the couch, in the bed, or wherever I want to (I choose the bed). I know what it feels like to truly be loved! I get to go on car rides to take my human brother to school and I love it! I’m still trying to figure out how to act around other dogs but my new mommy and daddy are working on it with me and are very patient. Anyhow, I know I am one lucky dog and I’m very thankful for my new home and my new mommy and daddy and brother!”
