I have a 4 year old Malamute mix, who I rescued about 2 months ago. He is a great dog in every way, except with toys. He gets very anxious and guards a toy or bone, if we give him one. He has snapped at my husband a couple of times. We don’t usually allow toys because of this, but I feel so bad for him. He acts like he wants to play, then if I try it out, gets anxious and stiff and guards the toy within minutes. I have to try and distract him, then take it away. I don’t think he was ever really played with before. Just wondering if anyone has advice on how to help.
