I’m currently feeding my 5 month old Boston terrier pup “holistic health extension” and this brand is super expensive and they don’t sell it anywhere except Petland. However I really like how it has all the nutrients and is natural. I want something that’s like that but not outrageously expensive and isnt hard to find. I understand that good quality comes at a bigger price but I know there’s cheaper out there. Any suggestions?

Hi! What a sweet doggy face!!

Have you looked into VeRus? It’s really good food – I’ve been very happy with it. They have a map on their website that shows stores who carry it but you can also buy it online. You can contact them through their webpage and they will ask questions/send you samples based on what your dog needs. These are nice samples, too. http://www.veruspetfoods.com/

So presuming you’re in the U.S..

I feed my dog Wellness which is a premium food but the important thing to look for is that it’s nutritionally balanced. Any food whether it be expensive or cheap that makes that claim should have everything in it your dog needs to be healthy and happy.

That said, I also supplement Bella’s diet. She gets boiled chicken breast (which is her treat), boiled sweet potato, occasionally a little rice, a small tin of tuna once or twice a week, a lamb shank once a month, boiled eggs when I can be bothered boiling them. But don’t think I’m some crazy dog person who spends hours preparing gourmet food for my dog….it’s mostly things I’m preparing anyway and I set a little aside for the dog. So if I’m making a salad I’ll keep some of the lettuce and carrot for the dog and so on.

I am very picky about what I feed our dogs. I make sure that whatever they eat is healthy, wholesome and most of all safe from cross contamination. My older dog is allergic to foul and cannot have it.

I have been feeding our dogs Fromm for years. It is processed and manufactured by Fromm, no outside vendors. They have a multitude of flavors and you can switch from one flavor to the next in their foods with no digestive issues and their foods are from puppy to senior. My dogs love it. They offer regular and grain free. The 15lb bag runs about $33 and it lasts about 2 months for my 2 small dogs.

I won’t feed any other food.

I have a 6 year old Boston Terrier, that we adopted at age 3. We have always fed her Wellness Core dry dog food and mixed in a spoon of Wellness Core canned or Wellness Turkey & Sweet Potato canned. Within the past 6 months we have added a spoon of Chobani non-fat plain greek yogurt. Having a Brachycephalic breed dog they can take in more air than other dogs which will contribute to them expelling gas. Food choices are very important! I hope that you find a good dog food that your new pup LOVES!

I’ve been feeding verus dog food for a few years and it is GREAT for my dogs. It is a little more expensive but you don’t have to feed as much as you do with cheaper foods and it’s easier for your dog to digest so more of it is used by the dog’s body. It is REALLY good stuff. I understand that they have a contact form now so you can get FREE samples from them.

I like the Zignature dry dog food line and so do the dogs. Great food and price. This company also makes a great line of cat food called Fussie cat that all my cats love.

I’ve fed mine Verus dog food for YEARS. The quality is as good as you’ll find elsewhere and the cost is in line – or slightly less – than other premium dog foods. They have different flavors/formulas to suit your dog’s needs throughout life. I have never had a problem with the health of my dogs after feeding Verus. You can try the food out by contacting them and asking for a sample. The samples are free and, depending on the size of your dog, are good for a single feeding. You can find them by doing a search for Verus Pet Foods (veruspetfoods.com). Also, you can buy it through PetFlow.com and get a discount when you put it on auto-delivery. It’s a great deal all around.

Your dog is your family and solely deserves the most effective. however are you able to get “the best” pet-food cheaply?
The highest will get insanely costly. thus what’s a cheerful medium? And, what pet-food do you have to select once the economy gets thus tight that you simply square measure speculative however you’ll afford a new meal for yourself?

Top Pick: Diamond Naturals pet food

diamond dog foodThis is one that I’ve had lots of non-public expertise with. to start with, it uses some kind of meal: lamb, beef or chicken . thus your dog gets a considerable quantity of real, animal-based macromolecule.
In addition, as you browse the ingredients, you’ll notice lots of different considerable stuff — like oilseed. High in Omega-3’s and fiber, this can be AN ingredient you’d generally solely notice in ranking dog foods.
Traditionally Diamond has solely been carried at the foremost farm feed stores, thus it’s been tougher to urge. However, it’s currently carried by Amazon.com, creating it simply out there to everybody. (There square measure many choices that qualify for PRIME for gratis shipping!)
I’ve used it for lots of years on all sizes of dogs. They like it and that they keep in tip-top form. If you’re savvy enough, you’ll even notice it for fewer than $1 a pound.

      2 Pick: Science Diet

hill’s science dietScience Diet is one in all the most effective dog foods on the market. In fact, it’s one in all the most-recommended dog foods by veterinarians.
Why? Well, to start with, cross-check the primary ingredient. Unless you’re viewing the feeder version, you may see “chicken” or “beef”. By comparison, Diamond uses “Beef Meal” and “Chicken Meal”. By protrusive to whole meets, Science Diet ensures that your dog gets the most nutrition potential from every bite.
Whereas Diamond pet food may be found for simply back of $1 a pound, you’re getting to barely cross that $1 mark so as to urge Science Diet.

3 choose : Premium Edge For Sensitive Skin

premium edge pet-food sensitive skin Most low-cost dog foods do their best to merely provide the clean minimum within the approach of nutrition. (In fact, lots of costly dog foods do constant factor. )
The beautiful factor concerning Premium Edge is that they really embody high-end meats like salmon and organic fertilizer as their 2 main ingredients. These richin-omega-3 oil foods square measure excellent thanks to offering your dog a full vary of nutrition whereas at the same time feeding its coat.
And then, for filler, they use made foods like Potatoes, Kelp, Blueberries, and oilseed. It’s pretty spectacular. If that’s not enough this food is fortified with vitamins like Glucosamine for the dog’s joints and Taurine for his or her heart health.
I realize you may pay a little bit additional for this complete than you may for the opposite two that we’ve got reviewed thus far, however, it’s most higher, that, if your budget can enable, I actually have to extremely advocate this selection.

Well, if you have a Tractor Supply nearby, or even if you just want to feed dry food, you can mail order or go buy Tractor Supply’s 4Health dog food. Myself and my neighbor both have big dogs that have nutso food allergies, and they have no problem at all with 4Health’s potato and salmon food. They use high quality ingredients and as far as I can tell, it’s all made and regulated in the US. Cheers!
