Hi everyone, my name is Winnie, my mom and dad keep telling people I am a miniature dachshund, but I think they need to get their eyes checked because when I look in the mirror I see a much bigger dog, I think they are called Dobermans or something. My mom tells me the story how she got me all the time and I love to hear it because before my parents came to get me they don’t think I was being taken good care of. I was taken from my mom when I was very young, I guess 5 1/2 weeks is young, but who really knows. My new owner had me eating icky adult dog food, I had goopy, itchy eyes and a crate but not very many toys or soft things to snuggle with like I have now!! There was a big, mean dog that kept trying to hurt me so my old mom put me on this website called Craigslist and tried to make some money off me. One day my mom was looking for football jerseys on this weird website that my picture was on because her favorite team the Denver Broncos were going to the Superbowl and she needed to look good for the game. I guess I was good luck because they won the big game and I got to go to a fun party!! She saw my picture and how cute and little I was and decided I would be a good sister to my brother who is a dapple Doberman, oops I mean dachshund just like me!! My new mom, dad and grandma drove 4 hours to get me and when they picked me up they were shocked at how small I was, 2lbs is small I hear, but now I am super big and a hefty 8lbs. I was 9 weeks old at the time, and that was over a year ago and I could not be more happy with my new mom and dad and brother! The first few days were a little scary and weird, my new brother ignored me and snapped at me a lot, even though I tried so hard to get him to like me. There was another big dog in the house but she would just lay around all day and didn’t move a whole lot, then about a week after I got to my new house the big dog went away and never came back. I guess she was my mommy’s old dog who couldn’t walk anymore, I was very confused because everyone left the house and came back really sad without the big dog, I think she would have made a really good big sister. My mom was very sad but always says I helped her ease the pain of losing her other dog. I tried really hard to be a good dog so she would not be sad anymore and not take me away to another family because I loved it so much with them! Life is so great now! I learned to go potty outside really fast, my brother eventually learned to like me when he quit being so sad after he lost his best friend, now he loves me a lot and I love him so much! After all the snow went away I found out I had a HUGE yard to run around in and dig and chase rabbits and squirrels, I found out I have 2 cousins just like me and love to go to grandma and grandpas to visit them. I discovered this toy my parents call a ball and it is my FAVORITE thing in the world, they throw it for me and I bring it back to them to do all over again, I could play with my ball all day, I even play fetch with myself when my parents get bored of it. I get to sleep with my parents and brother in the big bed and take up all the space and have this really cool ramp I launch myself off of when I run up it and into bed and since I don’t like mornings like my mom I get to sleep in as long as my mom lets me and it is the best! I even have a best friend that lives with me named Goose, I will miss her when she leaves with her human in a few months. I could go on and on about how happy I am and all the great things I get to do, but I think I need a nap now.
