In honor of Oktoberfest, here are ten breeds that originated in Deutschland. Aside from many of them sharing similar looks, almost all of these German breeds were used for hunting or guarding of some type. The German Shepherd Dog is the only tending (herding) dog among them, and even he was also used as a guard dog for the flock.

No surprise here. The shorthair pointer was developed in Germany and remains a popular breed today.
