My husky Casey had kidney disease. He wouldn’t eat anything. He was a big boy at 101 pounds. Our vet suggested giving something sweet. My wife made him pancakes that looked like corn cobs. Covered them with butter and syrup. He eat them up to the day he passed away. We had an appointment with the vet on Saturday morning. When we woke up Saturday morning he had passed away during the night. Certainly miss our big boy. He was a gentle giant who loved everyone.

Ours isn’t classified yet as kidney disease but kidney levels are off. She suggested chicken and rice as we were feeding lamb and rice and was too fatty. We bought a less expensive brand Pro Plan Chicken Rice and giving him HEPATO SUPPORT vitamin for kidney support. Or the other brand was Denamarin both recommended by vet and recheck in 2 months

Be sure you ask your vet how it helps with kidney disease. If they give you some answer like well it is formulated for that particular issue… then it means they just repeat what they are told by the manufacturer sales rep who is just trying to sell food. Ask what the particular ingredients help and how they help…. if your very cannot answer that question be worried. If you are going to pay 100.00 for prescription food… you deserve to know more than what the bag says from your veterinarian.
