20 Best Dog Foods for Jack Russells with Allergies

I make my own food for my pet. And I use my dehydrator to make her treats. I also make her dog biscuits. I want to know every single thing that goes into my dog’s digestive system. All of my terriers have lived over the age of 15 since 1989. What I give my dog now is a protein, brown rice, and a vegetable.

Not a food recommendation, but I would HIGHLY recommend this allergy supplement on Amazon. Reduced my dog’s itching substantially. My vet said keep using it!

First you need to find out what the dog is allergic to. What other people feed their dogs isn’t useful to know unless they have the same allergy.

I cook. He’s supposedly allergic to chicken, rice, soy, wheat. He’s got seasonal allergies too. 8 months of the year I manage without allergy meds and put up with some paw licking. Summer he needs Apoquel or Cytopoint to be comfortable. Crockpot a couple proteins (turkey, beef, venison, fish, pork) sweet potato, green beans, carrots, pumpkin, bone meal. Package in containers and freeze. Gets a probiotic and joint supplement. He’s 12. Still a sports dog….

I use Merrick Lamb Limited Diet kibble and canned Merrick food Limited Diet. We avoid pork, chicken, beef and turkey because everything was bothering my JRT and vet said these were common foods that would cause allergies. Poor boy was throwing up, wouldn’t eat and dehydrated. After a few bouts of that and trying out all types of food, even dog food from Australian; this particular brand doesn’t cause the same allergy issues as other brands.

Natures Menu….Country Hunter duck. Our Sparky was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) we have to watch how much protein he takes in. No chicken beef or lamb along with a long list of other bits including cheese which was one of his favourites, Still he is healthy right now and that’s all that matters.
