20 Best Foods for a Corgi with a Sensitive Tummy

My boy had really bad IBD as a younger pup. I tried so many different kibbles but nothing worked. Once I switched to raw, it made a world of difference. He’s had no issues since. I feed him Honest Kitchen fish now, as my vet recommended it. Highly recommend!

Depends on what’s causing the sensitivity. If there’s a food allergy, then a vet should be involved. General sensitivity or caused by medicine, Science Diet Gut Biome or Senstive Stomach have been life savers for us. Boiled chicken, pumpkin, sweet potato and yogurt always are good to go along with. We’ve also had a lot of success with Weruva wet food. Our corgi has a sensitive gut from several series of anti-parasite medicine for resistant Giardia. Stay away from cow-based dairy products, too.

The best I ever gave mine (sick puppies) was Royal Canin. It’s a prescription dog food, very expensive but they did e excellent on it. I have since switched to Science Diet, sensitive stomach. And again, they are doing well. Good luck in your research

Not a food recommendation, but would HIGHLY recommend this probiotic chew from Amazon. My dog thinks they are a treat and it solidified her poop in about 3 days.

Our Ruby had serious problems with her food, turns out she had an allergy (lots of vet visits finding this out). We tried novel protein kibble (salmon, rabbit, kangaroo) and hydrolyzed protein, but she hated those and would only eat them when she was starving. So, I tried Farmer’s Dog Pork – a protein we hadn’t fed much. That was a hit with her and gave her no problems. Since then we’ve added the Farmer’s Dog Beef recipe to good results. We’ve concluded poultry is the problem, so we’re going to stick with the pork and beef and go from there.

Lucy does good with nutro chicken and brown rice elder version. Walmart was out of this version so only option at the time was large dog… it caused her GI to have diarrhea so let vet know what happened she’s almost done with her pill to help her GI gallbladder break down the food

The only food that does not upset the stomach / colon of one of my corgis is the Science Diet ID ( a little of their kibble and a little of their canned ID stew ) with a big scoop of 100% pure pumpkin on top, twice a day. She had spastic colon type issues prior to her rescue by me, and after many vet visits and trying everything else this is what has worked best. My other normal guy eats Victors Yukon River Salmon , grain free. Great food!

My corgi has sensitive skin as well as bouts of GI problems leading to being put on GI food before weaning to non-perscription food. She currently eats Hills Science Diet Sensitive Skin and Sensitive Stomach. It’s been amazing for her and she hasn’t had any stomach issues since being put on this food! She eats this with salmon oil x2 times a day.

My Cashie boy had GI issues due to prolonged prednisone use to treat his SRM. He did really well with Steve’s Real Food raw nuggets/patties and with Stella & Chewy’s freeze dried patties and raw coated kibble. I would also add pumpkin purée or sweet potatoes.

I put boneless skinless chicken breast in the crockpot overnight and then food process it and mix it with rice (usually brown) and then mix with nutro dog food. I find its probably best not to switch up the food but keep with one brand particularly as they age. Look for a brand with a high amount of protein with meat as a first ingredient.
