Most dog owners allow their dogs in the bed at night more often than they’d care to admit, but we’ve got some reasons why sharing your bed with your dog is beneficial. After all, dogs can certainly make the ultimate companions. So if you’re looking for the perfect excuse to let your pooch in your bed every night, check out this list!

#1 – Dogs Relieve Anxiety

Dogs are known to relieve anxiety in humans, as can be proven by dogs that work as service animals for those with severe anxiety disorders. They make it easier for people to go outside and live their lives, but they also make them feel calm and relaxed at night. Sleeping with your dog in the bed can help you sleep better and offer tranquility.

#2 – Dogs Make Us Feel Safe

One of the biggest reasons most people get dogs in the first place is to feel safer. Whether you’ve got a fully trained personal protection dog or a dog that will alert you with a bark doesn’t matter. All you need to feel safe is the dog sleeping by your side. Feeling less fear will certainly improve your night’s rest.

#3 – Dogs Love It

Let’s face it, our dogs love being spoiled. Dogs are opportunists, so if you give them the chance to sleep in the bed with your, they’re going to do it because they enjoy it. It makes them feel just as calm and safe as it makes us feel.

#4 – Dogs Are Warm & Cozy

Blankets and pillows are warm and cozy, but they just don’t compare to a dog’s warm body and soft fur. Many owners admit to sleeping with their dogs because it keeps them warmer at night. Even a small dog next to you can make you feel just that much more comfortable.

#5 – Dogs Improve Depression

Just as they relieve anxiety, dogs have been proven to reduce symptoms of depression in people. Dogs offer an unconditional love that many people feel they can’t find elsewhere and having a dog to pet at night makes them feel better. Whether you’re looking for relief for more serious depression or just trying to prevent any unwarranted blues, relaxing with your dog at night is a great solution.
