Delgado is a 6-year-old German Shepherd who desperately needed a second chance at life. He was found wandering the streets in an Ohio town, and his rugged appearance proves just how much he endured up until this point.
Delgado was spotted roaming the streets by a Good Samaritan in early March. He was sweet and a bit timid when the animal lover approached him, and they could see that he was not wearing a collar or a tag. The Good Samaritan was able to easily put him on a lead and bring him to the Humane Society Of Ohio Valley, where the staff could search for the presence of a microchip.
After finding that the Shepherd did not have a microchip, it was clear he needed a loving rescue team to step in and help. The shelter welcomed him into their care with open arms and set out to find the forever home of Delgado’s dreams.
Across the country in Georgia was a woman named Kristi that was mourning the loss of her very own treasured German Shepherd. After spending many beautiful years together, the loss had left her heartbroken and unsure of how to heal that pain. That was until she came across a photo of an adorable German Shepherd needing a home in Ohio.

Kristi stumbled upon Delgado’s photos when scrolling through her Facebook timeline. His adorable scarred face and unique ears caught her eye, and something inside of her insisted that she meet him. After working out the logistics of how to get to him, she reached out to the Humane Society currently caring for the pup.
Once they learned Kristi’s story and how much she missed her very own Shepherd, the team knew she would be the perfect match for Delgado. He needed a dedicated fur parent to offer him a beautiful future, and it was clear that Kristi was up for the job. Once she got the go-ahead from the humane society team, she set off to meet her future pup in person.

Kristi wanted to make sure that Delgado knew he was loved from the moment she picked him up, so she arrived with a fancy new harness and a basket full of toys. From the moment the two finally locked eyes, it was clear that they were meant to be in each other’s lives!
After sharing a few moments together in the shelter lobby, it was finally time for Delgado to set off into the beautiful future that awaited him. This pup finally got the happy ending he always deserved, and we couldn’t be happier for the two of them!
