A portion of every purchase you make from iHeartDogs.com is donated to Greater Good Charities. They’re an incredible group of charity partners who help people and pets. It’s customers like you that make their mission possible.

Barbossa and his siblings were found at only six-weeks-old, after being dumped in the rural area surrounding a tiny town in Oklahoma. He was one of over 20 dogs, all living within the same small space.

As you can expect, living conditions were not ideal. In fact, during the winter, all of the dogs had been huddling together for warmth under a makeshift outdoor shelter. They’d hide the best they could from the elements under the lean-to, but there were so many dogs living in such a small, unsuitable space.

Luckily, the Friends of the Shelter Foundation found them when they did. They were able to rescue Barbossa and all seven of his siblings. Of course they couldn’t leave any of the dogs behind to live in squalor. So every single one was saved and spayed/neutered.

Since Friends of the Shelter Foundation is a foster-based rescue, Barbossa and his siblings were lucky enough to go to the same wonderful foster home while they waited to find a forever family of their very own.

When you agree to be a foster, the rescue you go through provides you with everything the animals within your care need. This includes everything necessary to keep their hungry bellies full.

“We can’t thank the GOODS program enough! The money that we get to save is tremendous and allows us to spend it on medical cases and spay/neuter,” says the Friends of the Shelter Foundation.

Luckily, thanks to their feeding costs being offset by the GOODS Program, the Friends of the Shelter Foundation is able to allot the funds for worthwhile necessities such as the spaying and neutering of animals. Millions of dogs are euthanized in the United States every year because there simply isn’t enough space for them at a shelter. Spaying and neutering saves lives by not allowing animals to be born into homelessness.

Barbossa was one of the last two of his litter left to be adopted. But thanks to all the hard work done by the shelter, he was able to find a loving forever family of his very own.

It’s thanks to you, and your purchases from the iHeartDogs store, that we can continue to donate to Greater Good Charities, and help fund the GOODS program. It’s because of you that animal shelters such as the Friends of the Shelter Foundation are able to do the life-saving work that they do and can continue to find homes for all the deserving dogs. So, Thank you!
