Our veterinarian is someone we trust with the health and well-being of our beloved furry family members, which is why it feels so unsettling to hear about an animal abuse story involving a vet.
After a disturbing home video showing someone aggressively assaulting a German Shepard was posted to YouTube, viewers recognized the abuser and demanded to know what action would be taken. Now, an investigation is underway.
Multiple authorities are currently investigating the case after a disturbing home video involving several deliberate acts of animal abuse was posted to YouTube.
By his behavior, it was not the first time this beautiful German Shepherd was maliciously mistreated. In the video, the poor pup was cowering in fear as the man screamed and demanded that the dog come to him.
“He stalks the dog inside this home. He’s angry with the dog for some reason, who was cowering. He was a German Sheperd and this dog was afraid of this grown man. Just grabbed him, threw him down, and started choking the dog out, and then takes the dog and slams it down several times, and you can hear the yipping,” explained Mark Hackel, a Macomb County Executive.
In the video, you can clearly see that the vet uses brute force to wrestle his dog to the ground. How could a pet parent, especially a veterinarian, think it’s okay to treat an animal like this? After the video was posted, local community members recognized the abuser and demanded to know what action would be taken.
“Some citizens had seen it. They recognized who this was, where it was, and called authorities. We got inundated with calls, people wanting to know what we are going to do. We just want to let people know that we have handled it,” said Mark Hackel, a Macomb County Executive.
The video was filmed by and then posted to Youtube by the vet’s son, who captioned it as if it was no big deal or even funny. Sadly, this is likely the norm he and his other siblings see, and there is a cause for concern that something beyond what is happening to the dogs is happening inside his home.
As of right now, all three of the animals have been removed from the family home. They are currently being cared for by their local animal shelter until the investigation comes to a close. But the man’s veterinary practice is still open for business, and an arrest has yet to be made as investigators continue to build a criminal case. If found guilty, this case will likely result in felony animal cruelty charges.
As you can imagine, animal lovers all over the internet and within the local community are sickened and outraged.
