Dogs can make us feel so much safer. Even if they’re not specially trained to protect us, their unconditional love conquers all. And when an emergency occurs, most dogs are willing to do whatever it takes to keep their loved ones safe.

Clover the Maremma mix recently made headlines for her nurturing instincts. When her human collapsed on a walk due to a seizure, Clover acted fast. She stopped traffic and found help, all without taking her eyes off her mom. It’s possible that the loyal pup saved her human’s life! And now, her human feels even safer knowing Clover can protect her.

Quick-Thinking Canine

Haley Moore from Canada was going for her usual walk with Clover. But then the unthinkable happened. A neighbor’s security camera caught footage of Moore collapsing and seizing on the side of the road. Clover rushed to see if her human was okay, and then quickly jumped into action as if she was a trained seizure alert dog.

Clover backed into the middle of the road while keeping an eye on Moore. An oncoming vehicle stopped in front of the dog. Dryden Oatway hopped out of the truck and rushed to see if Moore was okay.

“It was really impressive, the dog actually blocked my way. She kind of backed into the road to block my truck,” Oatway said. “The whole time she was backing down the street she had eyes on [Haley], didn’t look away from her. She kept her distance from me but made sure her owner was okay and that was amazing.”

Soon, Clover flagged down a second car, and Danielle Pilon came out to help. Once Clover saw that her mom was being cared for, the pup raced back home to alert Moore’s parents. She caused a commotion so her family would follow her to where Moore was lying.

Safer with a Dog

Moore’s family rescued Clover when she was a puppy, and now it was the fluffy dog’s chance to return the favor. Even though Moore doesn’t remember any of it, she’s very proud of her furry friend.

“All I remember is waking up in the ambulance and being really confused; just like what is going on,” said Moore.

Now, Moore is feeling much better, but she still has no idea what caused the seizure. Yet, she’s not scared because she knows Clover will always protect her.

“If this ends up happening again, I feel 10 times safer and I know she will be there for me,” Moore said. “You know how good animals are and she’s a really amazing dog and I love her to death.”

We don’t deserve dogs! They’ll do everything they can to keep their humans safe and loved through every challenge in life. And they do it solely out of the kindness of their hearts. We could all learn a thing or two from Clover.
