Gracie The Comfort Dog Arrives In Orlando To Help Ease The Pain Of Night Club Shooting Survivors

| Published on June 14, 2016

Gracie is a gorgeous 5-year-old Golden Retriever who resides in Davenport, Iowa. Today, she journeyed to Orlando, Florida to be with those who are suffering in the aftermath of the Pulse night club shooting.

Officially, she is a Lutheran Church Charity K9 comfort dog, “who is specially trained to ease human suffering,” reports ABC News 10.

And this canine is no stranger to compassion. She routinely works in schools, churches, nursing homes, and hospitals, according to her Facebook page. She has also comforted victims and families in the aftermath of tragedies such as the Sandy Hook shootings in Newton Connecticut, and the Yarnell Hill Fire in Prescott, Arizona, reports ABC.

Along with several other Comfort Dogs from around the country, Gracie will be visiting hospitals and churches in Orlando. There, she will help survivors, families, and locals grieve–and find hope–in her calm and gentle presence.

There is something about the strength, loyalty, and unconditional love of a dog that can ease pain in a way that humans can’t. We hope that Gracie and her fellow comfort dogs bring peace and hope to those who have been shaken by the shooting.

You can follow this beautiful dog, with her beautiful soul, on her journeys via the Gracie the Comfort Dog Facebook page. We wish safe travels to the pups and their handlers.

On behalf of iHeartDogs, our hearts go out to the victims, survivors, families, and locals affected by this tragedy.
