“PACT for Animals is a champion of the Human-Animal Bond. PACT gives peace of mind to hospital patients and military personnel throughout the US, by placing their pets in temporary foster homes until their owners can be reunited with the companion animals they love. Every year, thousands of companion animals are surrendered into animal shelters due to temporary emergency crises. By providing access to vetted foster homes until their human companions can be reunited, PACT reduces the number of animals in animal shelters and gives the owners peace of mind that their best friends will not be lost, abused, or euthanized. All PACT programs are free!

“PACT carefully screens every case to find the perfect match of foster home and foster pet. Foster families are in constant contact with the military/hospitalized owners providing regular updates, including photos, messages, and videos of their beloved pets. For many people in a hospital bed, on deployment, or in another crisis situation, these emails are a comfort for their raw nerves, and the best thing they see all week! When people are fighting for their health or fighting for our country, no one should have to worry about the safety of their best friends. Our foster programs save lives with every successful crisis rescue, foster placement, and joyful reunion. At PACT we believe in keeping families together and building strong communities willing to protect the Human-Animal Bond. Our volunteers are truly the definition of “unconditional love.” They open their hearts and their homes to strangers in need of a helping hand.” – PACT for Animals

Thanks to a grant from GreaterGood.org funded by the iHeartDogs.com community, Brownie found such a foster.

Brownie’s Mom and Dad are both members of the Navy and were both deployed in the same time frame. They contacted PACT for Animals in a panic, and PACT quickly went to work matching their beloved pup, Brownie, with the foster home that was perfect for her. Brownie likes to be the center of attention and preferred a home where she was the only pet.

They located a wonderful PACT foster who cares for Brownie as if she is her own. She cooks dinner for Brownie, sings her to sleep, and loves to cuddle with her while watching their favorite shows. Finding the best option for Brownie in a foster that best fits her criteria is what makes PACT different and allows them to place animals in homes for extended periods without the worry of needing to rehome these pets. Some of their foster terms last two years and finding just the right match for each animal is the top priority in giving owners and fosters the best results possible.
