Recently, a professional hockey player and his wife-to-be decided to forgo the traditional bridal party and opt for something a little more…dog friendly. Instead of asking humans to stand beside them, they opted to include their best four-legged friends. The pictures are as amazing as you would imagine. We think they scored a winning goal for sure!
Congratulations to the Murrays
Matt Murray, the goalie for the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins, eloped with his fiancee Christina in late June, and the Canadian couple wed at Lake of Bays in Ontario, Canada.
There was no maid of honor or best man. Well, not in the traditional sense. Instead, the couple’s Newfoundlands, Beckham and Leo, stepped in to be the bridal party. Christina and Matt started dating in high school. And in the years that followed, they added two giant Newfoundlands to their family.
Beckham and Leo wore leafy green necklaces, and they proudly watched on while the two-time Stanley Cup champion married his bride. The pups took their job very seriously. Watch below.
More Newfoundland Love
Once we found Beckham and Leo’s Instagram account, we had to do a deeper dive. These large dogs are too adorable. Check out our favorite snaps below.
That’s one giant puppy!
Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear.
This photo shows Beckham and Leo to scale. We love these gentle giants!
How big do you think those life jackets are?
Want to see more pictures from the beautiful wedding? We found the professional photographer’s gorgeous photos from the big day. The best part is the abundance of Beckham and Leo. Congratulations to the Murray family!
