Singer Lady Gaga has been separated from her beloved dogs while she works on a new movie in Rome. But at least she felt comfortable knowing they were looked after by people she trusts. Her friend and dogwalker Ryan Fischer has always been very kind and helpful with her trio of French Bulldogs. So, she never expected something to go wrong.
But around 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday evening, Fischer was attacked and shot while walking the dogs. The suspects got away with two dogs, while the third ran off. Gaga is offering a $500,000 reward for the return of Koji and Gustav. No questions asked.
A Violent and Cruel Act
The incident occurred in Los Angeles, in the 1500 block of North Sierra Bonita Avenue, which is just off of Sunset Boulevard. Fischer was walking Gaga’s three French Bulldogs: Koji, Gustav, and Miss Asia. Sources say Fischer adores the pups, so he regularly walks them and cares for them when Gaga is away.
But one innocent walk quickly turned into a horrific scene. A white four-door Nissan Altima pulled up near Fischer and two men between 20 and 25 got out. They were both wearing dark clothing and one was holding a handgun.
Before anyone knew what was going on, shots were fired. The men got into an altercation with Fischer and then shot him in the chest. While he was down, they grabbed Koji and Gustav and drove off with them. Miss Asia ran away during the chaos, but was later found safe by police officers. The suspects did not steal any of Fischer’s belongings, so it’s clear that they were only after the dogs.
“We heard blood-curdling screaming. And then within about a minute, a shot rang out. We just ducked for cover, ran inside, and called 911,” said witness Rachel Mason. “We came back out and the guy was literally bleeding out as the cops and the paramedics were coming, and our neighbor was compressing his chest. I didn’t know if he was alive or dead and he gets put on the stretcher and put in the ambulance.”
Fischer was brave and selfless in that moment. He took a gunshot for the dogs without worrying about the consequences. According to his friends, he’s an amazing person, along with a gifted writer, artist, and musician. And now, he’s a hero too.
Help Bring Gaga’s Furry Friends Home!
While Gaga hasn’t publicly posted about what happened, many witnesses shared what they saw. According to sources close to Gaga, Fischer is in the hospital and is recovering well. He is stable and breathing on his own, and he’s expected to make a full recovery. But sadly, Koji and Gustav are still missing.
It’s unclear if Gaga will come home to help search for her dogs, but she is currently offering a $500,000 reward for their safe return. As long as the French Bulldogs are returned to her safely, there will be no questions asked. It’s unclear if the dogs were stolen because of Gaga’s status or because the breed is in high demand. Officials have no reason to believe that the suspects knew they were Gaga’s dogs. Either way, it was a disgusting, unforgivable act.
“Shooting someone in order to steal dogs is wrong. We’re just sick over it, it’s really horrible,” said Joe Germanotta, Gaga’s father. “It’s like someone took one of your kids.”
If anyone has additional information about the suspects or the dogs’ location, they’re encouraged to send an email to KojiandGustav@gmail.com. Gaga’s dogs are incredibly important to her, and she even runs an Instagram page for them. Hopefully, they will be back in their loving home in no time.
