Cathleen was picking up a cat she had just adopted when she heard about another animal in need. She had just left the clinic with the cat in its carrier when someone approached her with a tiny, timid puppy. The little one seemed desperate for assistance. When she held him close, the puppy instantly relaxed in her arms as if realizing he had finally found someone who cared. His face showed a sense of relief, knowing he was safe. The group noticed that the puppy was infested with fleas and worms, but since the local clinic had just closed, Cathleen had to wait to get him proper treatment.
While waiting, Cathleen brought the puppy home, fed him, and offered him some treats. The other dogs at Cathleen’s home curiously approached the newcomer and warmly accepted him, making the little pup feel secure. Determined to help, Cathleen decided to start removing the fleas and deworming the puppy herself, which took some time. The next day, they visited the vet to ensure the puppy’s health. Thankfully, the vet confirmed that he was mostly healthy and had no major issues. They also discovered he was only a month old.
It was heartbreaking to think about what this tiny puppy had endured in his young life, but Cathleen was committed to ensuring he would never face such hardship again. Back home, Cathleen carefully groomed the puppy, removing the bits of grass tangled in his fur. After a much-needed grooming, he looked and felt much better. She decided to name him Milo. This adorable puppy, who had only wanted love and care, had finally found it with his rescuer. Over the next few days, Milo’s shy demeanor began to fade, and he started to show signs of happiness.
Cathleen was delighted to see him wag his tail, and Milo enjoyed playing with his new canine friends. They treated him like a little brother, patiently helping him adjust. Even Cathleen’s cat, Isabel, who had initially avoided Milo, eventually gave in and joined in the fun. It was heartwarming to see how well they all got along.
Merida is a senior who was found abandoned in a backyard with her sibling who had passed away. She was left to fend for herself as an 11-year-old with diabetes. Thankfully, Kanoa Rescue Foundation stepped in to save her, but she still needs your help!
When it was time for Milo’s vaccines, he bravely faced the procedure. Though Cathleen had grown very attached to him, she knew he would eventually need a permanent home. Thanks to her dedication, they found a wonderful forever family for Milo. After meeting them, it was clear that Milo had found the perfect people who would love and cherish him.
