Love football? Love dogs? If you choose to see a Jaguars game at EverBank Field in in Jacksonville, Florida, you’ll soon be able to mix the two!
Following the addition of two on-site pools in 2013, the stadium will once again pioneer a new tourist attraction: an in-house dog park. Design photos show that the space will feature a doggy pool, palm trees, and artificial turf.
According to USA Today, pup parents can either choose to stay with their pups or drop them off for “daycare” before heading to their seats.
The post announcement reads:
“Now dogs can cheer on their cats at the game! We’re excited to announce our partnership with
@pparadiseresort to bring dog daycare to the South Fan Deck.”
The stadium is teaming up with Pet Paradise to build the Fido-friendly section of the stadium. ABC Local 10 News reports:
“According to ESPN, the 2,000-square-foot dog park will also feature TV/internet capability so that owners can check in on their dogs during a game.”
Despite all the dog lovers out there, the new plans have met with mixed reactions. While some fans embraced the idea, others weren’t sure if an NFL stadium is an appropriate place to bring pups. Commenters expressed concerns over loud noises including cheering and fireworks, as well as owners drinking too much and forgetting to pick up their pets.
