Photo Tips & Tricks From Our Artists

Do your doggy best.

Lighting

TIP: Have your pup face your light source rather than putting it behind them.

Bad

Overexposure from flash or sunlight obscures artistically critical detail in your photo.

Good

Good lighting reveals just the right amount of contrast.

Framing

TIP: Stand close to your dog, making sure he's fully in the frame, and take the photo at around his eye level.

Bad

Getting too close or taking your pic too far away from your pup poses problems.

Good

Your pup should be the main subject of the photo and positioned in 75%+ of the photo.

Blur

TIP: Take your pic when your pup is calm and relaxed to get a better focused photo.

Bad

Out of focus photos or blurry action shots just won't do.

Good

A crisp photo with your dog in focus is best. Your pup should be sitting or lying still.
