Puppy Pizza DIY Healthy Snack!

| Published on April 4, 2016

This treat is just so adorable! When you think of pizza for a pup, you may think, “There’s no way that can possibly be healthy for my dog.”

But today we have whipped up a creative and healthy retake on pizza, but using fresh ingredients your dog can benefit from and will have them begging for another slice! Incorporating plain yogurt, beet juice for color, and banana slices, you will have a pawesome pizza fit for a puppy king! Here’s how to get started:

Ingredients:

1 cup oats

1/2 cup chicken broth

2 eggs

1/2 cup vegetable oil

2 cups gluten free flour

1 banana

1/4 cup fat free cheese

All-natural beet juice (for coloring- optional)

Preheat your oven to 400F. Lightly flour a wooden pizza paddle or baking sheet. In large bowl, combine oats, broth, eggs, oil, flour until a dough forms. Should be tacky but not too sticky, add small amounts of flour to fix stickiness. Now work your dough into a ball and place on your floured surface to be rolled out. Once you have your desired size and shape, place some of the red beet colored plain yogurt onto the dough (as if it is the marinara sauce of a normal pizza), sprinkle your fat free cheese into place, and follow with your beet-colored banana slices around the surface just like you would pepperoni! Cute, right? Now place it in the oven for 8 minutes.

The banana slices will warm up with the yogurt, the crust will get nice and crispy, and the cheese will bubble with perfection!

Give your furry friend an awesome pizza party, invite some neighborhood pups over, and get the pup-pizza party started! Yogurt is a great source of calcium and protein for promoting both bone and muscle health. It also has probiotic benefits, which certainly helps to maintain your dog’s intestinal health, all while aiding in digestion. It also contains potassium, a mineral that preserves an ideal balance of fluid in your dog’s body. Potassium is also responsible for regulating enzyme function and maintaining healthy nerves and muscles; it plays a key role in your pup’s heart function. Now, who said pizza couldn’t be good for dogs?
