We love to hear stories about dogs and cats getting adopted. This tale started off bittersweetly. In the first act, hundreds of animals found their forever homes. However, one little guy was left behind. In the second act, this pup was finally adopted into a loving home.

Meet Kenny

Recently, a Kansas City shelter held an adoption fair for its animals. It was a massive success! More than 200 animals moved out of the shelter and into their forever homes. All except for one. Kenny. The sweet boy returned to the shelter, the only animal without a family. We can’t imagine how lonely and confused he must have felt.

Luckily, this boy had a positive attitude. Kenny found a temporary home with the Wayside Waifs shelter. The employees loved him!

“He’s definitely a people dog!” Casey Waugh, the shelter’s communications and annual giving manager said. Other volunteers called him a “dream” and said he made friends wherever he went. Kenny lived in transition. But, the shelter workers said he didn’t let it get him down.

The folks at Wayside Waifs made it their mission to find the two-year mix a forever home. Kenny’s web bio said:

“I can’t wait to meet you and start our adventures together!  You’ll never be bored with me in your life and I promise to make you smile every single day.  Please come to meet me soon!”

Who can deny that kind of advertisement?

Kenny Goes Home

It didn’t take long for the pup to get adopted. Who doesn’t love a cuddly, energetic pup? Less than a month after Wayside Waifs posted his story on their social media pages, Kenny found a home. Wayside posted this on Facebook:

We’re happy to report that he found his forever home this weekend! Wayside’s adoption counselors could tell his new mom put a lot of thought into this adoption prior to coming to Wayside. They still talked with her about his needs, such as how to provide mental and physical activity, that he needs to remain the only dog in the home, and other things that will make life with Kenny wonderful. Congrats Kenny!

Kenny found his human. He no longer has to live alone at the shelter. We have no doubt his bubbly personality contributed to his adoption. For more on Kenny, watch his story in the video below.
