Rena Sofer, The Bold And The Beautiful and General Hospital actress, found a fun way to make money off cursing. Ever artistic and altruistic, the soap opera star designed a cheeky “F-off” clay glazed mug and decided it could be useful for more than just holding coffee.
An animal lover, Sofer donated profits from the handmade mugs to help animals in need. Fortunately, other TV personalities like The Young And The Restless stars Michelle Stafford and Courtney Hope also support the actress’ mission.
Thanking her supportive friends and colleagues, Sofer posted on Instagram:
“Thank you so much @therealstafford for buying 4…. Yes FOUR of my [F-off] mugs to raise money for #freedomflights for animals in the #cdcban countries to get over here before the ban goes into effect on July 15th.”
Sofer also noted that some money from mug purchases will go to her favorite Southern California rescues who, as she put it, “are struggling to save as many animals as possible in our very overcrowded shelters!” That includes Road Dogs & Rescue and Marley’s Mutts.
This region in particular sees a lot more strays than there are homes, often resulting in the euthanasia of adoptable animals. More funding can help with adoption events, outreach, training, and more. Transport flights can also bring animals out of high-risk areas and to loving homes elsewhere.
Sofer plans to make more mugs and continue to give to the many institutions that help animals. She’s also donating to international organizations like Soi Dog Foundation which rescues dogs from the meat trade overseas.
In the comments of Sofer’s Instagram post, one grateful rescue shared:
“How did we get so lucky to have you go to bat for us and support our rescue and the many others rescues that you do also??? You my friend are amazing! We are honored.” – @norcalbullybreedrescue via Instagram
The mugs may have an expletive on them, but it’s hard to be offended by such a good cause. You can learn more about them by visiting Sofer’s Instagram page.
A Frequent Foster Parent
In addition to using her artistic abilities to help animals, Sofer is a frequent foster for dogs in need. She often advocates that fostering saves lives and posts about her foster dogs online. Of course, she has several permanent canine companions as well.
There’s probably a lot you can do with fame, so it’s great that Sofer uses her influence to help animals in need. If you’re not able to give financial donations, fostering is an incredible way to save lives.
