As animal lovers, we are often asked whether we are a cat or a dog person. And until Michelle met Leonard, she was sure having a cat was completely out of the question. Not only was she allergic to them, but she was a “dog person” through and through.

But after Leonard unexpectedly came into her life, everything she once believed to be true about cats changed.

After Michelle’s adult daughter moved out, she really wanted a cat to call her own. So she started stopping by her local animal shelter to see who was in need of a home. And every time she was there, Leonard was still waiting to find his forever family.

Michelle’s daughter felt like she really needed to be the one to give him a home. So she adopted him.

But only a few months after that, she had to move. So she begged her mom to temporarily take Leonard in while she looked for a new, feline-friendly place to live.

Michelle tried to say no, even reminding her daughter that she’s allergic to cats. But her daughter began to beg. She didn’t want to have to part ways with loveable Leonard. So Michelle went online, found an “allergy wipe,” and used it on him once per day.

“I had cold-like symptoms for a while until we just adjusted,” Michelle explained.

Leonard absolutely blew Michelle out of the water with all the talents and tricks he has up his furry sleeves. He can shoot a soccer ball into a goal, play pool, turn off lights and close cabinets on command, ring a bell to ask for food, and roll over. Leonard likes things to be on his terms, but he also loves to cuddle and is super playful. He loves to be the center of attention.

“He just became such an important part of our lives that when my daughter found a place to live, she’s like, ‘I realized there’s no way I’m going to take him back from you; he’s your cat now,’” said Michelle.

To Michelle, Leonard is a little ray of sunshine who helps take all her worries away. She’s so incredibly grateful that she’s had the unexpected opportunity to become a “cat person.”

You can see Leonard follow impressive commands and perform all kinds of tricks in the video below. And, if you just can’t get enough of the handsome, extremely dog-like Leonard, you can see more of him on his Instagram page.
