Hi all, my 10 yr old male jack Russell had a run in with another of my dogs and required stitches. As a result he had blood taken which showed his liver results were 8 times higher than normal. He had the same tests done 3 weeks later and they were a tad higher. So he had an ultra sound of his belly and the vet said he has benign nodules on his liver. The vet advised there is nothing that can help this, and they won’t cause him any issue but his liver is working 8 times harder than it should. He will have another ultra sound in 6 mths to keep an eye on everything. Has anyone else had any issue with your dogs liver? My boy is a bit of a chunky monkey and even though the vet said his weight hadn’t caused this and it won’t help, I have put him on a diet (to his disgust!) and he has lost weight already.

My Jack who passed away in August was 19 on May 1. He had high liver results his whole life. My vet suggested Marin, which kept him healthy all those years. You can buy it online quite reasonably. I used to cut them in 1/4s for him.

Hello! While I don’t have experience with nodules, we had a Jack who did not have a functioning liver for most of his life (the blood shunted around it.) While here are a lot of liver friendly dog foods out there…. our dog always turned up his nose to them. Eggs are an easily digestible protein, which is good for dogs with liver issues as it’s my understanding that the liver helps break down the protein for them. They were a good way for him to get protein that his body could handle. He lived to be 8 and he had scrambled eggs everyday. Best of luck!
