My French bulldog is 5 years old. He has had diarrhea since December. He has seen his regular vet and now a specialist. They believe he has protein losing enteropathy. The next step is an endoscopy with a biopsy. My heart is broken. Has anyone else experienced this with their dogs? He is on a low fat diet, prednisone-tapering now, Flagyl. Royal canin food. Thanks Cindy W

Hey Cindy!
I’m from the Netherlands and was searching information about this topic and found this one! I have a similar situation over here: my french bulldog of 6 years has diarrhea, loss of appitite and losing weight. She always has been a hard eater, very picky and also sensitive to certain things. She is on a hypo allergic diet. Nevertheless, we didn’t trust it and went to the vet. Blood results are showing low total protein, low albumin and high infection parameters. The vet thinks it is protein losing entropathy, but not sure what kind of mechanism is causing it. The next step is to examen here feaces, so i’m waiting now waiting on the results. I’m a bit concerned because she very skinny and not having a lot of reserves. I hope you can help me, with answering some questions, and i’m also very curious how your french bulldog is doing!
– what kind of treatment is your bulldog having? Medication etc.
– What kind of food are you using?
– Do you have other tips and tricks for me and my french bulldog?Hoping you can help us! Thanks Aniek
