I took my Jasper in, he had a puncture wound that was pussy and swollen. I had washed it out several times before getting him to his appt. In the meantime I discovered a lump in his groining area. When he gets to the vet l show them all this. They tested him for lymphoma and checked his temperature which in fact was 105.5 . I asked them to bring me a cold towel to try to cool him down. I asked what to do for his temp . until the test came back. They said NO aspirin or tylenol ,but gave him a steroid shot. As far as the wound they didn’t even clean it up, but handed me some antibiotics for him to take, and told me they would call me the next day with the test results. I live approximately 15-20 minutes from the vets. It was a extremely hot day, so I opened all the windows and put a wet cold towel on him till I got home. When I got home he could not get up, I picked up his head and put it in my arms and screamed for help. Everyone around came but it was too late he died in my arms. We buried him and the vet called me the next day and told me the test was positive for lymphoma which he said we could start treatments for him but its not a cure. He knew that I would do anything for my Jasper for he knew that my dog was my service dog for I am disabled and had already saved my life 4 times since the 5 years I have had him. I rescued him for he was malnourished and then brought him back and then he blew up to 185 pounds and found out he had a thyroid condition so he went on medication for his thyroid and I watched what he ate. When he passed we had him down to 100 pounds which wasn’t bad for he was a big boy anyhow. Then I told the vet what happened he couldn’t believe it, and said things like this happen sometimes. I said excuse me but do you think the reason for his temp.was because of the infection from his wound and not the lymphoma. And why could they not administered fluids with an antibiotic right there at the office. They knew he was in distress at that time. He said well I gave you antibiotics to give him at home, only after I had said something about it at the office. I told him do you think it was alittle late for that at that point. He needed help then not later. I don’t know what to do. I still have 4 other dogs that have been seen there too. Help I miss my big baby boy.
