I need some help. I have a one year old beagle. And she’s SUPER scratchy all the time. I’ve given her benadryl baths with itching stuff in them and everything I think of. She doesn’t have hot spots YET but her stomach and under arms and tail are super hot to the touch from her scratching. No fleas or mites or dry skin. Been vet checked at 3 vets with skin diagnostic done. Nothing helps. Has anyone had this problem?? Any recommendations on how to help her like soaps or lotions?

I used to give my dogs and my ferrets liquid linatone. You can buy it at the pet stores. It comes in a bottle. I poured it on their food once a day.

I would try changing to alimited ingredient diet with one source of protein that the dog hasn’t been on before. My beagle battled itchy skin and would chew on his feet until they were bleeding. He has fungal infections from Allrergies and ketoconazole my vet prescribed help but was temporary. The diet change to the limited ingredient diet has stopped all his allergies.

Hi There,
I would change her food, to a Grain Free Diet. You don’t want to stick to just one protein because your dog will become allergic to that protein. If you stay away from grains both in her food and in her treats, this should definitely help and alleviate the problem. It will take a little time for your old food to flush out of her system and the new one to take affect. If you have a really good mom and pop dog store that sell natural, grain free, or organic food I would talk with them. They are a wonderful resource and very knowledgeable in so many ways. I hope this helps!!

I had the same problem with my lab. Last vet said to get rid if his fleece bedding. Problem solved!

My Bernie became the same way at age 3. It came down to he needed to be allergy tested. I do not mean blood allergy tested your vet can offer. I mean skin allergy tested by a doggy Allergist. Yes they do exist. He was allergic to everything. I mean every thing. We opted to not put him down and proceed with special food and 3 different antigens that I draw a weekly shot from. It it’s not cheap! But he is 11 now in perfect health and he brings to our lives out ways the cost. We could have children so he is our child.

Our precious beagle Miss Bailey did the same thing. We switched her to a grain free diet and that took care of it. 🙂

My female beagle had the same problem I put her on Blue Buffalo grain free food and the vet put her on a daily allergy medication of Apoquel. Problem solved! I truly believe it was the Apoquel from the vet. This medication is amazing! It is not too expensive and it is a life long medication but she has had not itching, sores or ear infections she has been on it. Before the medication she was at the vet almost monthly with one or more of these problems. She has had no side effects to the mediation and is very happy now!
