How I Found My Furever Home – By SnoopDogg

Hi, My name is SnoopDogg, but you can call me Snoop, or even Noop (my mommy does and it makes me happy).

I came into my furever happy place 3 1/2 years ago and my life just keeps getting better. My life before was not so great, the human friends that owned me did not understand how to care for me or my sister. We lived in a place where the fleas would crawl all over us. There were mean humans that did terrible things to me, scare me and make be cower and have accidents. I still have not been able to get over that completely but my mommy and daddy now now how to care for me. I wear and wrap thing that is kind of like a diaper when I am inside so there are no messes. Well… Let me get back to my adventure. My mommy lived close to the house that me and my sister lived. She and her friend would love on us both from the wrought iron gate that kept us in the concrete yard. They would bring us treats and kiss us and pet us (even though the fleas would be crawling ALL OVER US!. They even got permission from our humans to take us to their house and give us baths and treat us for the fleas. It felt sooooo good, but then, we would have to go back to the ugly house and the fleas would come again. It was torture!!!

THEN….this happened….

I don’t know what hit me but the next thing I now I am flying off of the balcony and crashed onto the concrete slab below! My back hurt and my leg snapped and I cried and cried and cried. My humans did nothing to ease my pain. For weeks I walked around with my back leg hurting so bad. I could not use it and it just flopped around when I would walk. My sister and I were so sad but what more could we do???

Just when I thought things would never get better, my miracle happened…

Three humans (my new mommy, my new daddy and their friend) rescued us both from our torture! The next thing I know my sister and I were at a doctors office. The nice lady doctor and her helpers examined us both, my sister was treated for her severe flea infestation and was released. ME…. Well, my back leg was broken into three pieces near my knee and I was taken into surgery right away. The next thing I know I wake up and my new mommy was there to comfort me. It was not very fun for a while but she and my new daddy nursed me back to health. I went to work with my mommy every day for the next three years because, I needed a lot of care. You see, shortly after my recovery from surgery (pins and screws holding my bones in place) I felt a sharp terrible pain in my back.. I screamed and cried and mommy picked me up to comfort me. I could not tell her why but my back hurt and then…. I could not feel my back legs.. WHAT ELSE!!!! Mommy and I went back to the nice lady doctor and she told my mommy and I had a herniated disc that was pressing into my nerves and that I may never be able to use my back legs again. I was confused but I would not give up! Mommy got me wheels so I could get around the office and the house pretty good.. The nice lady doctor gave me medicine to help my back. Then ever so slowly, I started to feel something back there I would keep trying and trying and eventually, I was back on my feet.. Mommy says I walk like a drunken sailor. I now run and play with my puppy sister, Loli and brother Cowboy. We have a great time together.

I am loved and snuggled and kissed all the time, I get delicious, nutritious food and I have new brothers and a sister too.. I love to get under the covers and snuggle up. I have lots of places to be cozy. Daddy says that SnoopDogg is the best name for me because… I have my mind on my mommy and my mommy on my mind!

As for my sister that was rescued with me.. She now lives with a beautiful little girl and they love each other sooooo much! She is happy and I am so happy for her.
