My girlfriend who lives with me, dislikes my 4year old Gsd. When he was a puppy he chewed one of her shoes and she has held a grudge ever since. I have never witnessed her abusing him but have heard heand him yelp more than once when she’s alone in a room with him. There’s always some excuse why it happens. Recently she had been staring into his eyes and showing her teeth. The dog gets scare, jumps up and starts aggressively barking at her. She seems entertained by this. Its never done this in front of me but my son has witnessed it. I’ve questioned her about all of this and she generally gets angry that I’m accusing her of something. My concern is that when she scares him he does not try to leave the room. It looks like he would rather give some warning barks but stay and fight if needed. I think I know the solution but just curious to someone else’s feedback.

My first instinct is to say dump her, who knows what she may do to him when no one is around. How immature to not understand what puppies do.
I’ve moved over a significant other who didn’t care for my dogs.

I personally would definitely have to get rid of the girlfriend. Like ‘catdogz’ said, there no telling what she’s doing to him when no one is around. I would suggest getting a nanny-cam of sorts (they come in all types of disguises now a days) if you feel you need to catch her in the act and then confront her with the evidence, but only if taking the time to do so doesn’t put the pup in harm’s way in the meantime (more than he already is!) And she IS intentionally scaring him by staring aggressively and baring her teeth at him! It sounds to me like she’s trying to goad him into biting her…and if that Does happen, I hope that you tell her she got Exactly what she was asking for! BTW, she gets mad when you confront her about it because people don’t like being called on their $#!+….but if You don’t stand up and protect him, who will?? Protect that pup, and good luck……..

There is No Alternative ! DUMP THE GIRLFRIEND !!! Quickly ! Run away ! Very quickly ! Why take anymore chances with your family’s wellbeing? IF SHE Could Do That To Your Dog… JUST THINK… WHAT IS HAPPENNING BEHIND YOUR BACK????!!!!!! PROVEN FACT: PEOPLE WHO ABUSE ANIMALS(ESPECIALLY DOGS) GO ON TO ABUSE CHILDREN AND DO OTHER UNSPEAKABLE ACTS OF TORTURE & MURDER !!!! Get some hidden video cameras to document any violence or any harassment being done when you are not present in the same room and for documentation to show the courts, also call the police to file a complaint and get an order of protection for your family to restrain her from going anywhere near to your family !!! DUMP THE B*TCH!!! What a whack-job !!! GOOD LUCK !!!

Find another girlfriend. Who holds a grug against a puppy for years. You and your dog can do much better.

I agree. She needs to go- quickly. I’m not sure what her issue is. Really who holds a grudge against a puppy? My second one Angel decided that she wanted to teeth on the oak chairs that went with the table we received as a wedding gift. Guess what- we all survived. Besides shame on her for being foolish enough to leave her shoes within the puppies reach. For all you know she was hoping that you’d get rid of the dog. But seriously a gshep will only put up with so much. Their extremely intelligent and God help her if she pushes past that line. When a shepherds switch is flipped it doesn’t mess around-ever. It’s going for the kill, they don’t do a warning before they attack and most don’t have a tell per sey. Nothing is worse then a dog attacking out of fear. You can’t control a dog that’s scared. All that’s happening is that your dog is losing faith in you and your courting a tragedy in the making. Your girlfriend is a fool, she should realize that her teeth are no match against your dogs teeth.
