My cocker spaniel Bailey is a soft and loving natured dog with humans but is getting aggressive and has attacked our other dogs ( make and female) if they come close to me and he’s sitting by me. They can spend all day together in and out of the garden and house and play happily together with no problem at all and even eat along side each other.
I don’t know how to handle the situation for the best. -

Oh I have had similar – I have a 9 month boy cocker and and 8 year old girl – the boy as he is growing (also neutered) is showing more protective/aggressive behaviour toward my girl and me- having said that the girl was not very nice AT ALL to Cashie when he first arrived – what I try to do is have them play (with me) at the same time – I also encourage them to sleep near each other and with me on the bed (yes yes i know) i notice when they have set up demarcation lines in the house and outside – they do this – and break them – for example Abbey ((girl) will drop a long lasting chew in front of her and sit there all day -ALL DAY:- and bait the puppy – she will then go for him when he inevitably tries to get it from her – i am very very careful about showing an favouritism with food or affection – dogs notice this too – and if Cashie gets too aggro with other dogs I go out of my way to go and pat the other dog – the boy is wanting to be top dog and chief protector – you are Top Dog and don’t need protection 🙂 so discourage any aggro by gentle scold and separation – establish your dominance – cockers catch on fast – he will develop better manners for sure x
