Our beautiful one year old boxer Bella developed a golf ball size lump under her throat this past week. Any ideas of what it may be or have you treated this before? Any help is appreciated thanks!

Please take her to a vet immediately. We just had our shepherd have surgery for a lump, found cancer and is taking chemo. I hope it is nothing but people you do not know should not be diagnosing your baby.

Why are you not at the vet already, anything as bad as this needs to be seen immediately. The other post is right it could be cancer or any number of things. Although one of dogs developed a leak in a saliva gland which look like a large lump. It was very messy and need several surgery visits.

Yes, could be cancer especially with as fast as it grew but could also be a fatty deposite. Dogs get them on their sides most often but I have a dog who has one under her chin as well.

Take Bella to the vet immediately. I hope it’s not cancer but only a vet can make a diagnosis. The sooner you find out what this is, the better her chance of survival. Some cancers can grow very quickly. The lump is close to her esophagus, trachea, spinal cord, and major blood vessels. If left too late, surgery may be impossibly risky.
      Best of luck!

My precious boy developed the same lump in February of this year. Took him to vet immediately and was told it was lymphoma. Tried everything to give him more time. (prednisone treatment, chemotherapy.) He sadly lost his fight 2 days ago on 10-21-16.

I had the exact same thing happen to my bulldog. When I took him to the emergency vet, they did an aspiration and then led me to believe it was probably cancer but needed more testing. They put him on antibiotics just in case. My regular vet took another sample and sent it out for testing but said it was likely cancer. The test came back negative for cancer and they didn’t know what it was. They ended up putting him on a very strong anabiotic which did the trick. The swelling went down and he was back to normal. I was very very thankful it ended up being an infection when all the vets thought it was surely cancer. Get her tested immediately and put on antibiotics as a precaution. I hope things go well.

Did you ever find out what this was? We have a one year old boxer that developed the same lump. They gave her an antibiotic and it seemed to get a bit smaller but after the antibiotic was done it immediately came back and has stayed. It is not soft – about the size of a golf ball. She has had genetic meningitis and has been on prednisone since she was 6 months. It’s been a ride for sure!
