We have a 4-month old Sammie that eats and drinks his own waste products. He is fed a high quality dog food twice a day, and gets water regularly. If he pees in the house, he turns around and starts to drink it. Same thing when he poops in the yard. He turns around and starts to eat it. We try to clean it up ASAP, but sometimes we miss it. I was told this is a “Survival” behavior, stemming from how they are caged as puppies by some breeders. Can anyone shed some light on this, and tell us how to stop it?
