InactiveGood Afternoon friends and folks,
I am writing to you because I need advice and some help to see where I am going wrong. I have been peeking around on Petfinder.com and Adopt-a-Pet.com for about a month now trying to find a puppy that I am breed knowledgeable about. I have been able, during this month, to narrow it down to 4-5 puppies. I’ve gone out to meet the shelter volunteers or foster parents and we typically strike a conversation about the dog and his/her history.
The thing is, after completing my application there is always an excuse as to why I am not able to adopt – Such as someone already applied and approved even though they invite me out to meet the puppy or they tell me I didn’t fit the puppies needs. I do not get this – I am self-employed, I own my own house, have no other animals in the house, and have been patiently waiting to complete school and ensure the career was steady before bringing a dog into my life. I am not sure what it is about my house that would be denied.I have had a 6 foot privacy fence with an additional 2 feet of concrete poured below the fence installed to the tune of 5600 dollars. I am successful, work from home and make over 100k a year. I am young, 26, live with my fiance and own the house. I have time, since my job currently is very low stress and only takes between 5-7 hours a day. I exercise and take well care of myself, therefore I am an active person.
The only thing I can think of is not having a direct history with a local veterinarian but I have had one vetted and she was used in my application as I found her to be honest and professional. I don’t have history with them due to not having an animal since before college though. I have been really getting bummed out, as a kid I used to have rescue/fostered Siberian Huskies all the time, even up past high school my family would adopt all sorts of shelter dogs. I don’t know why I keep getting rejected, I’ve set everything up and it’s been over a month looking. I have all the puppies supplies bought and ready, here at home, but no puppy.
Please advise on the best approach to rescuing as I am at the cusp of giving up and adopting a purebred Siberian Husky as I know then I will be at least given a clear answer as to why I am rejected and a better chance to be approved.
