Can anyone who has had a staffy with heart failure tell me what sort of life span their dog had after diagnosis? And any other information regarding this condition

Hi, we have a pitbull catahoula mix who was about 10 years old when he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. He was initially on furosemide, then we added vetmedin, spironolactone, enalapril and eventually diltiazem. Jake’s been with us a year and two months since that diagnosis. He’s starting to suffer occasional collapses and is tired a lot. He’s still happy to see people but not overly energetic. I think the first thing that tipped me off to this was that he didnt hang near the dining room table at holidays like normal. Some of the medicines are inexpensive and can be purchased at Walmart. The expensive one we get from petrescuepharmarcy.com. They give profits back to the charity of your choice. I hope this onformation helps!

Depends on cause of CHF. If you are not seeing a board certified Veterinary Cardiologist I would do so. Also for Kendra, I hope your baby is getting regular (every month) blood work. The enalapril is a great drug but can cause kidney problems. Also hope your Cardiologist knows about the collapses. Could be due to arrythmia.
