Trying To Adopt/Foster a Senior Dog

Probably not not a good thing to make my first post a rant. I am a senior trying to adopt or foster a senior dog; I’m not having much luck. I have used all the possible search options within 50 miles, and called and visited shelters in my area.

Here’s what I have encountered:
No Senior dogs
Senior dogs with a $650.00 fee
Adoption process for a dog with 80% blindness that may take two or three months to complete
No senior-to-senior program
No fostering program
It seems to me that most shelters in my area are not serious about adopting out dogs.
