Hi!
I have a 2.5 yo female Corgi and as of recently, I have noticed that she will strain to pee. This is not all the time, only during walks, at the beach or during play time with other dogs. It tends to come and go and she doesn’t do it on a daily basis. Her outer vulva area is not swollen and there is not any blood evident in her pee.
Could this be a sign of a UTI? Has anyone else had issues with female Corgis doing this?
Thanks!

i would recommend seeing your vet. My female corgi had the same problem and it turned out to be bladder stones, she required urgent surgery twice in order to remove the blockage so that she could pee. Stone formation is not uncommon and required a special diet. Fortunately, she has not had any problems in over 8 years.

I have an un-spayed female and she does the same thing on walks. She’s “marking” like a male (twit!). She only does it on walks…. well, unless we’re at a show and then she’ll hold it forever! There is nothing wrong with her, she just wants others to know she’s been there. So they can read her “peemail.”
