I have had so many people comment on different ideas on what he might be. a lot of people think maybe ridgeback Shepherd pit mix or something. Does any have any idea on what he could be?

oh he is too cute, well we could not find out what the heck our rescue was, we did DNA tests it cost us 75.00 but it was the best money we could have used! ours it a
catahoula pit mix, didnt even expect it but she herds the other dogs which is the catahoula breed. so awesome
and we have a new found respect for her. and also we
know how to train her. check the dna testing out
from one dog lover to another

Looks an awful lot like our new rescue. He’s a Boxer mix. Not sure about the rest.

This is Bentley. He is Rhodesian Ridgeback/lab mix. Your baby looks a lot like him. Rhodesians have Staffordshire Terrier in them and therefore have some pittie-like features. I think yours is probably ridgeback mix too.

Except for the short legs, he looks like my dog and my neighbor’s dog – both are Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. I had the DNA test done and it was inconclusive but showed the Staffordshire Terrier as a grandparent. Mine loves to run and she is a natural sentry. In the evening, she will do guard duty on the back deck until bedtime. She’s also out on guard duty anytime she hears my neighbors’ young child playing outside.

She is a sweetheart. I was told she was a pit/retriever mix when I adopted her. She had been abandoned twice. It took a little while to gain her trust, but she’s at home now. I discovered once that the gate had been open for at least 3 days and she never left the yard.

Thank you all. I lost thos post and just found it again. My fiance and I agree that he is some sort of ridgeback mix. Definitely not a boxer mix we have two boxer and been around them for years and he acts and looks not a bit like them. We call him our hippie dog he is aloof and I tell people its not that he doesn’t like you its just that he doesn’t care. Unless it my fiance or I or a select amount of our family he just could careless about other people’s attention. He will mainly only cuddle me but he cuddles me always. He looks like the sweetest boy but when the people tried to break in by going in a window in my office after they saw my boxer at the door he met them at the window. He only barks when there is a reason I know when I need to be cautious of something by watching him.
