My name is Wilson and I am 9 years old. My mommy says I am a happy boy, and a big boy too! I like when she calls me her big, brave boy. I must take care of her, and sometimes she stresses me out when she goes away and I can’t be there to care for her. We used to live with my Daddy, and he helped me look out for her, now it’s up to me and I must be extra cautious and alert her of anything that might be coming for us. She says I’m a good alert dog, and thanks me all the time when I tell her the neighbors are outside or maybe I just hear a funny noise that scares me and she says it’s ok, and I’m a good doggy. She’s the best mommy in the world (she told me to say that, and I would do anything for her!) and we have lots of fun times.
Mommy takes me on big adventures where I get to ride in my special car seat and who knows where we might end up. She always tells me what’s going on, but sometimes I get confused and just go along for the ride. My favorite destination is when she says we are going swimming. She says I would play fetch in the water until the cows come home. I don’t understand this because we don’t have cows, but if it means I like the water, she is right! I have a bad left shoulder and I can’t jump up on things like I see other doggies do, but swimming means I can play and play and my shoulder won’t hurt. Mommy takes special care to be sure I don’t have to hurt myself by giving me elevator rides when we go up and down the stairs. She’s always there to put me up on the sofa next to her, or the bed at nite nite time.
One day we left our home and drove for a week. Every time we stopped it would be different. All new smells and places to explore. I met so many new friends and loved when we stopped in motel rooms. It was always fun to mess up the pillows on a new bed and learn where the heck our room was when we’d come back from exploring. Sometimes I get confused, all those darn doors look alike, but mommy always knows where we are somehow. We traveled from VA to OR where I got to meet my cousin Mookie dog. He’s a BIG dog and won’t let me play with his toys. But he’s a good doggie and I miss him now we are back in VA. Mommy would give him a treat when we would go visit and tell him thank you for not eating my dog. Hmmm, not sure why she thought he would do that, he might be big but I can still take him! We traveled for two years and I rode along for 10,000 miles! I’m glad we stopped and I now have a home and a routine again. If Mommy wanted to go again of course I would, but hoping it’s not anytime soon. We live with her friend Beth, and she’s very special to me! She takes me for walks and gives me special treats and takes care of me when Mommy isn’t around. She has a special blanket she gives me when I go to my safe place during storms. She’s very good to me, and I love her a lot.
My life started in this horrible place they call a puppy mill. I was very sick when Mommy found me, and my doctor told her I wouldn’t make it. She told that doctor he might be right, but she didn’t think so. She would keep me and give me the best life she could for as long as she could. Didn’t I tell you she’s the bestest Mommy in the world! She taught me not to be afraid of things like riding in cars. You see when I was a whittle bitty guy these mean people put me in a tractor trailer with lots and lots of other scared and sick dogs for about a month. I thought life wasn’t so good. So, at first when Mommy would take me in the car I would throw up and get so scared. I wouldn’t eat or drink and I had bad memories. She got me a special car seat and bought me a travel buddy to keep me company when we go and that helped a lot! Now I know that the car isn’t a bad thing, thank you mommy. She tries real hard to get me over my fear of some noises, but she just doesn’t understand how things like smoke detectors, squeaky windshield wiper, thunder, fireworks and her sneeze still scare me. I try to be her big brave boy, but sometimes I need to go to my safe place and regroup. She lets me and knows when I’m ready I’ll come out. I sure do love my mommy and try so hard to never let her out of my sight. She could help me out with this more and never leave me, but she says she must go to work and the store to buy me treats and toys. I guess it’s worth it, but wish she would stay by my side ALL the time. I do let her know when she comes home I’m very happy and make her play fetch with me. I know she’s glad to see me too. When Saturday fun day, and Sunday lazy day come I’m glad because my Mommy gets to stay home and I can look out for her.
Mommy says I’m the best doggie in the whole world, and I try to tell her she’s the best Mommy. We sure do love each other!! I don’t know about being the best, but I must be the happiest!!
